I knew I had "arrived" the day I walked across the top of a C-130 Hercules tactical airlift aircraft in stocking feet. I was a staff writer for the Hilltop Times, Hill Air Force Base, assigned to write about a new fuel system. I wore a dress and heels to work that day not realizing I would be jaunting around the top of a major cargo carrier.
Later that week, I was stringing for the Ogden Standard-Examiner when I chased steaming, sweaty buffalo on the Great Salt Lake's Antelope Island. It was an annual roundup so the beautiful beasts could be inoculated and checked for illness and disease. What a thrill!
