Go on a Blind Date with Clover & Chapter

Visit this new Mesquite, NV, mobile bookstore

Katlynn Troxel went on a blind date and fell in love–with a book.
“I got a Blind Date with a Book as a gift once. I absolutely loved it,” Troxel said. Like most good entrepreneurs, she decided to capitalize on that. Last week, Troxel opened a mobile bookstore in Mesquite, Nev., to share her love of reading with the world.
A Blind Date with a Book is a book wrapped in gift paper, with little goodies tucked inside. Buyers can choose from multiple genres, including Science Fiction, Romance, Mystery and Crime, and Fantasy. The actual title is a surprise. They make exciting gifts, even if you’re buying one for yourself.
Troxel and her family members fixed up a small utility trailer with paint, wallpaper, and wall-to-wall books. The mobile store also features bookmarks, bookbags, relevant keychains, trendy clothing, and many modern books for your perusal; you don’t have to date all of them blind.

With the help of her uncle, Jeremy Tandy, her grandfather, Ron Tandy, friend Felicity Garcia, and other locals, Troxel launched her business with a grand opening on Oct. 17, next to Danielle’s Chocolate & Popcorn at 599 W. Mesquite Blvd., Mesquite, NV 89027, where she will set up shop from time to time. She also plans to visit events throughout Southern Nevada, Southern Utah, and the surrounding area to sell her wares.
“I was so happy with the turnout at our open house,” Troxel said. “The community really showed up. I made some money, and I feel so grateful.”
